If you’ve ever been here before, chances are this place looks quite a bit different to you. We here at Cagintranet Networks have decided to give PitsburghSource.net a facelift on top of a major overhaul. If you’ve never been here before, let me give you a tour. Above all else, We ARE Pittsburgh. We eat, breathe & wake up in the ‘Burgh just like the residents & businesses we serve. And after a year & a half in the business, we know exactly what they want, and Pittsburgh Source 2.0 is aimed at doing just that. We currently maintain over 2900 verified links in our local directory, over 10 original articles about Pittsburgh written in-house along with displaying some amazing local artists’ work.
As for the updates, we went with the less is more mentality. We first got rid of the “Lets do everything for everyone” portal and scrapped the Classifieds, Press Release Centre & Finance sections. We then streamlined the Photo Gallery, Blog & Articles all into one simple Wordpress interface with our own customized theme. Gone also are the dull, drab colors of yesteryear. We now have bright colors to help catch (& keep) the eyes of our visitors to not only make the site a more pleasing experience, but also an experience that intrigues them enough to make them want to come back again and again.
What happens when Pittsburghers come together…
Pittsburgh Source has also harnessed the power of the new sharing and social networks that are dominating the web today like never before. We employed Digg to help get the word out to the masses, closely integrated del.icio.us bookmarks into our link directory and made our Website Reviews a more prominent and important part of the site. We also created multiple RSS Feeds to help you get your daily fill of Pittsburgh.
Knowing our Local Business Impact
Since our June 2005 conception, we’ve listened and watched our visitors intently to make sure we catered to their needs, had exactly what they were looking for and did it all in relative ease and efficiency. Looking back at it today, we see we grew into areas that we shouldn’t have (Classifieds & Finance) but excelled in other areas such as Search engine placement & directory content. Today we rank very high in many general use Pittsburgh search terms such as “Pittsburgh Car Dealerships“, “Pittsburgh Hospitals” & “Pittsburgh Mitsubishi Dealerships“. This gives us a great opportunity to help market local businesses though our Featured Link program. For those businesses that see value in our directory, a small purchase will put them at the head of their category… highlighted permanently.
2.0 Contest
It’s almost Christmas and we are already in the gift giving mood.
As part of the (re)launch of Pittsburgh Source 2.0 we have decided to give away 5 new Featured Links. 
The first 4 sites that submit a free listing to our directory starting December 1st (official launch date) will get a free permanent “Featured Link”. The final 1 slot is reserved for a brand new business from the Pittsburgh area that is in desperate need of marketing & exposure. We will give them a free Featured Link and a write up in our Articles section outlining who they are and what they do!
To be the business that receives the featured link & associated write-up all you need are a few things.

- A short email to admin@pittsburghsource.net explaining why your company or website should be picked
After reading all the submissions we will pick the top 2 businesses. We expect to close this contest just in time for Christmas or shortly there after.
